Air quality impacts using earth Observations and GIS – Geographical Information System

Air Pollution is responsible for millions of premature fatalities worldwide. Growing Megacities, seasonal biomass burning, and wildfires and desert dust threaten respiratory and cardiovascular health globally. Earth Observations using satellites that provide spatial and temporal patterns of gas and aerosol pollutants, combined with surface sensors and instruments, can be mapped in a geospatial framework is required to protect the public from the short-term and long-term effects of pollution populations worldwide. Decision-makers need this information to develop public policy that incorporating economy, sustainable development, energy, environment, and health.

AIR Centre PhD grants are aimed at applicants enrolled or that comply with the requirements to enrol for PhD related studies and who wish to carry out research towards this degree. Candidates with MSc. degree in a scientific area of health sciences, preferable in the areas of Cardio pneumology, Clinical physiology, Environmental Health and Biology. Professional experience in the study of respiratory function, air quality, microbiology or laboratory analysis of exhaled bronchial condensate is preferred criteria.
