Following the signature of the Memorandum of Understanding establishing a partnership between the Fulbright Commission and the AIR Centre – Atlantic International Research Centre, we are proud to inform that the 2025/2026 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award for the Ocean, Climate and Space / AIR Centre is open for applications.
The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Award for the Ocean, Climate and Space / AIR Centre supports the development of the mission-oriented approach of the Atlantic International Research Centre (AIR Centre) in the context of the disciplines below identified:
- Earth observation from deep ocean to near space;
- Ocean observation and modelling;
- Healthy and clean oceans;
- Marine resources and biodiversity;
- Digital twin of the ocean;
- Marine robotics and applications.
- Mitigation of and adaptation to climate change.
with focus on innovation in multi-national collaborative networks and creative approaches to the transatlantic cooperation to improve the understanding of the ocean and coastal systems as a whole.
The awarded activities shall take place at the facilities of the AIR Centre in Lisbon and/or at its headquarters and Earth Observation Laboratory, located at Terinov – Science and Technology Park, on Terceira Island, Azores and will have a 4-month duration. The activity must be completed by August 31, 2026.
