The Atlantic Ocean in Images
An Image a day keeps the doctor away
One of the wonders of the Atlantic Ocean are the giant waves of Praia do Norte, Nazaré, which are generated by the Nazare North Canyon. Both records for female (Maya Gabeira) and male (Rodrigo Koxa) biggest wave ever surfed were set in Nazaré. This now world famous big surf hot spot hit the spotlight when Garett McNamara broke the world record for the first time. On October 28-29, 2020, thousands of people gathered again to watch the best big wave surfers in the world riding the massive swell brought to Nazaré courtesy of Hurricane Epsilon. This photo was taken on the 29 and here you can see the highlights of this day. Location: Google Maps. More info here.
