On October 20-24, a team from the AIR Centre met with researchers from the National Institute of Fisheries and Marine Research (INIPM) and the University of the Azores, in Luanda, Angola, to prepare a scientific report supporting the recommendation of Total Allowable Catches (TAC) for small pelagic fish stocks for 2026.
For five days, the team analysed available stock assessment data and formed thematic subgroups to review and organize datasets. The resulting scientific report will be integrated into an INIPM report to be presented at the next Integrated Fisheries Management Council.
Participants also debated key challenges affecting fish stock assessment in Angola, and discussed recommendations to strengthen the National Biological Sampling Plan.
