AIR Centre team meets in the Azores for strategic planning and partnership building
The AIR Centre held its third Annual Meeting on February 3-4, 2026, in Faial Island, Azores, focusing on strategic planning and regional collaboration.
During the two-day gathering, the team from both Terceira and Lisbon offices engaged in constructive discussions about the institution’s future, developing a shared vision for the next 20 years and identifying the strategic directions needed to achieve it.
The meeting included visits to two key Azorean institutions. On February 3, the team visited the Azores Sea School (EMA), where Director Ana Rodrigues presented the school’s facilities and programs. The following day, they met with Filipe Porteiro, Deputy Director of the Institute of Marine Sciences OKEANOS.

These visits provided valuable insights into both institutions’ focus areas and helped identify opportunities to strengthen collaboration between the AIR Centre and its regional partners.
The outcomes of this Annual Meeting will guide the AIR Centre’s institutional development and partnership strategies in the years ahead, reinforcing its commitment to fostering collaborative research in the Atlantic region.
