The AIR Centre, as part of the Sustainable Blue Economy Partnership (SBEP) will contributes to the EMSEA Conference 2025, taking place in Ostend, Belgium, from September 17–19.
On Wednesday, 17 September, the Ocean Literacy and Blue Economy session will bring together leading European marine science experts to discuss the vital link between ocean education and sustainable economic development. The work carried out by the SBEP, led by JPI Oceans, the AIR Centre, the Marine Institute and the Italian Ministry for Universities and Research, will be presented at this session.
The three-day conference will open with a welcome from the organizing committee and keynote remarks by Sandra Castañer (European Commission DG MARE), Sigi Gruber (Senior Advisor, European Commission), and Kate Larkin (EMODNET).
As a key platform for advancing ocean literacy in Europe, EMSEA Conference 2025 will explore how marine science education can drive innovation in the blue economy while fostering knowledge exchange among educators, researchers, and policymakers.
AIR Centre’s participation reaffirms its commitment to promoting ocean literacy and supporting evidence-based approaches to marine education across the European region.
