Blue One Health on the spotlight in strategic meeting among Angola’s Ministry of Health, Fiocruz, the University of Coimbra, and the AIR Centre
On January 26, the AIR Centre hosted a meeting bringing together representatives from Angola’s Ministry of Health, Fiocruz, and the University of Coimbra to discuss collaborative opportunities in Blue One Health.
Discussions centered on priorities within Angola’s National Health Program (“Programa Nacional de Saúde”) and how Blue One Health approaches can support public health objectives in the Atlantic context.
The Blue One Health framework recognizes the interconnections between ocean health, human health, and ecosystem sustainability and it’s particularly relevant for coastal communities and island nations. This holistic approach addresses health challenges that span marine ecosystems, seafood safety, coastal resilience, and climate-related health impacts.
This dialogue marked an important step toward building partnerships that bridge ocean science and public health to address complex health challenges across Atlantic coastal regions, and roadmap for future actions will be drawn up.
