GMES & Africa and Working Group Africa have announced an exciting new training program. This initiative is a a significant step towards enhancing Earth observation capabilities across Africa. It focuses on empowering African practitioners with advanced Copernicus Earth observation skills, crucial for addressing the continent’s environmental and security challenges.
This training program runs from November 2024 to May 2025 and offers a comprehensive curriculum that includes:
- Core skills like QGIS, Python, and Artificial Intelligence, among others
- Specialized topics such as water and land management, marine and coastal management, disaster risk management, and Climate change monitoring
This initiative aims to build a community of skilled professionals capable of leveraging Copernicus data for sustainable development, disaster response, and climate change adaptation across Africa.
Applications are open until October 6, 2024. Only 20 seats are available in this inaugural session.
