The global ocean community will convene for the pivotal Oceans 20 Summit on November 16, 2024, at the Museum of Tomorrow, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Under Brazil’s G20 presidency, this high-level gathering represents a critical milestone in worldwide efforts to promote sustainable ocean management and develop a thriving blue economy.
The Oceans 20 Engagement Group (O20) serves as a strategic platform for aligning economic interests with ocean conservation priorities. The summit will bring together G20 countries, civil society, academia, corporations, and other stakeholders to address the urgent need for international cooperation on ocean governance.
At the heart of the event is the unveiling of the Oceans 20 Communiqué – a set of concrete policy recommendations for G20 leaders to adopt. These will focus on marine conservation, sustainable fisheries, coastal resilience, and responsible blue economic development.
Participation is open to the public, with registration required for both the Social G20 Summit and the Oceans 20 Brazil Summit. Global leaders, experts, and stakeholders are encouraged to secure their spots and be part of this historic event.
