A dialogue towards establishing a new research agenda on Data Science, Climate Change, Space and Oceans to be centered on the Atlantic, together with the potential development of an Azores International Research Center (i.e., AIR Center), has been prepared by the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation (FCT), through a series of high level research workshops to discuss multilateral scientific cooperation through an integrative approach benefitting from the unique environment offered by the Azores and the Atlantic.
This workshop on Climate Change and Energy, Space and Oceans was celebrated within the framework of the “II Reuniao Iberoamericana de Ministros e Altas Autoridades de Ciencia, Tecnologia e Inovaçao”.
The Minister of Science, Technology and Higher Education, Portugal, Manuel Heitor, participated in the international meeting of engineering education under the theme ” Innovation in engineering faculties: the change to competitiveness and sustainability”. This event was organized by the Colombian Association of Colleges of Engineering, ACOFI, and was attended by hundreds of academics and professionals from Latin America. In his speech Minister Manuel Hector presented the research agenda ‘Atlantic interactions’ and the AIR Center.
