Ocean Best Practices Workshop VIII: Shaping the Future of Operational Oceanography

The eighth Ocean Best Practices System Workshop (OBPS WSVIII) is set to make waves in the world of operational oceanography. Scheduled for October 14-18, this pivotal online event brings together experts from across the globe to strengthen the role of best practices in ocean science.

By fostering crucial dialogues between scientific and technological communities, OBPS WSVIII aims to enhance the interoperability and reliability of ocean data, advance global observing networks, and refine complex forecasting systems.

The OBPS WSVIII recognizes the fundamental need for best practices to enhance interoperability and reliability in ocean data use, ensure the evolution of global observing networks from deep oceans to coastal areas, and manage complex forecasting systems.

The workshop’s agenda is structured to maximize engagement and knowledge sharing:

  • Plenaries on October 14 and 18, focusing on the evolution of ocean knowledge and policy, and workshop recommendations and future perspectives, respectively.
  • Workshop sessions from October 15-17, including parallel sessions, keynotes, and presentations organized across two time zones.

Among the many projects that will take part in this online event, the programme will include very interesting sessions organised by Marine Life 2030, BlueMissionAA, and OKEANO:
