The Portugal Blue Digital Hub’s central strategic objective is to catalyze the digital transformation of the national blue economy cluster, in its various business sectors, stimulating entrepreneurship and attracting foreign investment to the sector, as well as qualification and training in digital skills, with a special focus on the development of services based primarily on artificial intelligence. At the same time, the Portugal Blue Digital Hub will also focus on promoting the digitalization of the public sector in the maritime area, especially with regard to simplifying access to data.
This central objective is divided into 3 strategic objectives that are aligned with paragraph 1 of article 3 of the Regulation on the Recognition Process of Digital Innovation Hubs and Access to the European Network:
- Test before investing;
- Business acceleration and support in the search for investment and networking opportunities for the innovation ecosystem and
- Skills and training.
The AIR Centre’s role in the consortium is to develop IT infrastructure to provide access to satellite-based earth observation data from our Direct Receiving Station, which is stored in a high-availability storage cluster in our data center in Terceira Island, Azores. This IT solution is a service that will allow access to a comprehensive data catalog including current and future satellite constellations.
